Why do we go to church? Is it because of the blessings there? Maybe God will remember us on that day? Yet each and every day, we miss blessings because we search for them wrongly, even in the right places.
The blessings we seek are hidden in Christ Himself, and if we want them, we must be ready to dig into Him personally, like a rock that He is, to get the honey. The blessings are not in His hands as we thought; they are hidden in His heart, and only those who can access it there can get them.
Matthew 6:33 : “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
So the mission was never to seek His hand, but to seek His heart, to win it, and to make it our abode. So the reason for going to His presence was never about the blessings to receive but His heart to retrieve.
I remember when I first gave my heart to Jesus in September 2018; He took away all my time. I lost the passion for all my work, skills, school, and friendships, and I got so addicted to Him that I was scared I’d lose everything. Hours seemed like minutes, and time flew so fast in His presence that I thought He would take me away. When you stop thinking about anything in the world, you realize you are left with only one thing: God. Just like Adam, that was the only thing he had.
If we remove our prayer requests for blessings, provisions, healings, and so on from our prayer points, do we still have any prayers left?
Can we remove the blessings and provisions mentality from our minds when we seek the Lord and change it into a fellowship? Watch how many things you didn’t pray for will fall into place automatically if you are aligned with Him in fellowship.
Fellowship builds trust and confidence; a child who is loved by his father will never go hungry in his presence, nor be naked and not covered. Why do we seek the Lord? When was the last time we prayed a prayer of fellowship, just to be with Him, for who He is (our Father), not what He is (omnipotent)?
Relationships have suffered because we only seek what is there for us; we ignore what we can offer. The truth is, we are there not just to receive but to share. What do we share with God in fellowship? – Our time.
Yes, our time.
We go to Jesus not because of the love but because of what He can offer us. Chasing the Lord for blessings, healing, provision, and food is nothing but a self-seeking chase, not selfless, but selfish. God never forgot us in the first place. If He cares for the ravens and the flowers, how much more His own children? Can a nursing mother forget her child? God knows what we need; He sees all.
Matthew 6:26 : “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
Time is the most priceless commodity. When we share it with God, it is never wasted, as many always think. Every minute and second is priceless with Him.
I was on my way to church one day, and the Holy Spirit told me, stop praying about that need; God knows. He does, but if you are not aligned with God, even if He wants to give you something, you will miss it. Why do you focus on the gift, and you forget the giver, even in His presence?
Deuteronomy 6:5 : “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
Forget your selfish blessings for now; let the blessings be to experience God Himself more, His touch, His word, to hear Him speak. When you love someone, the gifts from them are not what you want, but they themselves: their presence, their faces, their voices, their love, just as with the Lord.
Where do you stand? What do you seek? Leave the gifts you seek at the altar and seek the lover of your soul.
