I once read a message sent to me by one of my leaders at that time, and I became angry. I wondered, “Why would I receive such a message? Is this person always seeking my hurt?”
The Holy Spirit gently told me to read it again with an open mind. I did, and I discovered that the message was completely harmless. I couldn’t believe it. What had happened to me? It was as though a spell had been broken from my mind.
On the other side, everything was fine and peaceful, but in my mind, I perceived hatred. This is a typical example of a delusional attack on the mind.
The devil attacks the minds of believers to steal their peace. They begin to see things as harmful when they are not. They see helpers as enemies, family members as competitors, and friends as destroyers. The attack is directed at the mind, creating delusions.
The helmet of salvation keeps a believer protected from such attacks. When a believer is truly saved, he or she meditates on the Word of God rather than the words of men. The mind becomes fixed on love, forgiveness, and peace, even toward enemies.
When no room is given to bitterness, no arrow can find its way in.
Hebrews 12:15
“Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”
The peacemaker and the peace seeker are the true children of God. They can receive an arrow and turn it into a flower. They can receive bullets and turn them into butterflies. Nothing is able to touch them.
Do not tolerate bitterness; it disrupts the flow of the Holy Spirit. Always pray before responding to any perceived attack. Even when dealing with a known enemy, do not rush to fight back. Refuse bitterness and maintain the flow of God’s peace.
Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report… think on these things.”
May God’s shield over your mind never be broken, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
